From July 25th to July 31st, 2019, Prof Wang Shuren led a team including Prof Li Huamin, A/Profs Su Faqiang and Wang Wen to visit Hokkaido University in Japan for an academic seminar “Mining Safety and Resource Utilization”. Prof Wang Shuren made the invited report entitled “Research on roof stability of the mined-out areas”, and after that he played the English version video of Henan Polytechnic University.
During this meeting, a number of experts, profs, and graduate students from Hokkaido University, Kumamoto University, and the Japan Cold Region Institute made academic reports. Participants conducted in-depth and full questions, exchanged on relevant topics, and shared research results. This meeting improved the international popularity and influence of Henan Polytechnic University in this field. All participants learned the latest research of each other.
After the meeting, Prof Wang Shuren’s team visited the Rock Mechanics Laboratory in Hokkaido University, then conducted on-the-spot volcanic landforms and mine engineering to understand the development of surface monitoring and early warning systems for mined-out areas in Japan. These above mentioned activities will serve as a good foundation of research cooperation in geothermal utilization, safety monitoring and treatment technologies in mined-out areas for two universities in China and Japan.
