On November 4th, Dr. Hossein Masoumi from Monash University dilivered the academic report, which entitiled Size dependent behaviour of intact rocks: Recent findings and applicationsto different disciplines including Civil, Mining and Petroleum Engineering.
The seminar covered a brief introduction of Monash University and Department of Civil Engineering, especially the Resource Engineering Program for undergraduate education and research strength for postgraduate studies. It is followed by his main research interests that lie in the field of rock mechanics with particular focus on size/scale and shape effects on intact rock as well as constitutive modelling of intact rock exhibiting size/scale dependent behavior under uniaxial and tri-axial conditions. The seminar will provide a good opportunity for all academics in HPU to seek for any potential research collaborations with Resource Engineering group in Monash University. It will also aid all the students in exploring any possibilities to study Resource Engineering Program in Monash University in the future. Dr. Hossein Masoumi answered some questions and enquiries regarding the related to oversea study and research collaboration.
This academic exchange has opened up the academic vision of relevant professional teachers and students, and has contributed to the promotion of international academicex changes and research on rock mechanics.
